It is easy to be green....

Kermit the Frog was invited to speak at the Oxford Union in 1994 where he delivered an address to a thousand students on October 28th, wearing a mortarboard and gown.

In the speech, Kermit said that he felt deeply honoured to be invited to speak there. "The responsibility of representing an entire species rest on my shoulders." He explained that he wasn't able to pursue an academic career himself: "When I was a tadpole, I had over four thousand brothers and sisters, so my parents couldn't afford to send me to university... Like most frogs, I could have gone into Biology and majored in dissection, but I wasn't really cut out for that."

Kermit talked about the importance of protecting the environment, encouraging the students to "go green" -- beginning by cleaning up their dorm rooms. He also advised young women not to kiss frogs, saying that there are enough British princes already.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson pushed the world to "grow up" and tackle climate change during his annual United Nations address to world leaders on Wednesday (22/09/21).

"We must show that we are capable of learning and maturing and finally taking responsibility for the destruction we are inflicting, not just upon our planet, but upon ourselves. It's time for humanity to grow up," Johnson said.

Grow up; perhaps his thoughts were returning to 1986 and his own Presidency of the Oxford Union.

Yep BoJo, you tell them…

He praised China's pledge at the United Nations this week to not to build new coal-fired power projects abroad and the United States commitment to double funds by 2024 to $11.4 billion per year, to help developing nations deal with climate change.

But he added: "We must go further and we must go far faster. We need all countries, every single one of you to step up."

Johnson also challenged the message of Muppets character Kermit the Frog, who sang: "It's not easy being green."

"He was wrong," he said. "It is easy to be green."
